This past Sunday was my riding school’s end-of-the-year show, and despite the rain, we had a pretty decent turn-out and a lot of fun. Thankfully it only drizzled on and off during the morning, which allowed us to do the costumed jumping show. I actually didn’t originally intend to participate, but a little urging from Fred and a quick rummage through my closet found me signed up and dressed up. While waiting for my turn, I took a few pictures of the others:
“It’s-a me, Mario!”
We had quite a few “Barbie” ponies
Super Lucie and Palou saved the day again!
If there was a prize for Wackiest Costume, Manon would have won, hands down.
As for me, well, my two rounds had an awful lot of this:
Apparently Naika and I are having some communication issues. Oh well. I did eventually get her to jump all the jumps, and I didn’t fall.
There was more in the afternoon (vaulting and dressage routines and such), but I didn’t get any pictures – no good ones, anyway. I’d handed off my camera when it was my turn to jump, and the girl I gave it to handed it off to someone else, who then left it by the jumping arena – in the pouring rain. Not surprisingly, the lens got all fogged up and the few pictures I took were very blurry. Thankfully, there was no permanent damage, and Tuesday I was able to grab these gems while heading downtown:
I was greeted by Lucy when I got back:
“And just where have you been, Missy?”
After about a dozen failed attempts, I finally got a clear (somewhat) close-up shot of one of the bees in the lavendar patch:
My dad just got back from a 9-week trip to Burkina Faso, and, as always, he brought some gifts he’d found at local markets and such. Among them was this guy:
He’s made out of motorcycle parts.
And now if you’ll excuse me, I think a nap may be in order:
Or maybe lunch. Yes, definitely lunch.
